Google Officially Released Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich

After months of waiting, Google has finally unveiled Android 4.0 also called as Ice Cream Sandwich. The latest version of Android is all packed with tons of new features for Android lovers and it also unifies the android experience between tablets and smartphones which earlier had different versions for each of them.

Along with tons of new features, Android 4, Ice Cream sandwich has completely redesigned the look and feel for upcoming smarphones and tablets. Below are few of the most notable features released with this new version.

Unified UI framework for smartphones, tablets, and more
Going forward any new smarphones and tablets will have some user interface and will use the same OS version underneath instead of different ones.

Home Screen Folders
New home screen folders are added for users to group their apps and shortcuts logically, just by dragging one onto another. From the All Apps launcher, users can now simply drag an app to get information about it or immediately uninstall it, or disable a pre-installed app.

Unlocking the phone with your photo
lock-cameraIn this latest release users can also unlock their phones by just looking at the camera. Locked screen will show a camera icon and just clicking on it and looking into the camera will unlock the phone for you.

Send Text Message in response without unlocking the phone
When an Incoming call arrives, users can respond to it quickly by a text message without even unlocking the phone. The lock screen will show you the missed call alert on the top and sliding it down will give you an option to respond it by a text message.

Voice Typing
With the release of Android 4.0, users can dictate the text to the phone which can then be sent by email or a text message. Voice dictation even has an autocorrect which will show you the suggestion when you click on any underlined words.

Google+ Integrated
Google+ has been now tightly integrated into your Android phone and no seperate application download will be required. In-built messenger in Google+ will help you in having conversation or hangouts with your friends.

Android Beam
All NFC Supported phones can now use this feature to share information about the apps they are using just by touching two NFC-enabled phones together. The devices has to be close enough to make a NFC Connection. User can also share what they are viewing with their friends by just touch the NFC enabled phones together. This can come as a handy tool for sharing contacts or photos with your friends and family.

Along with all these new features released with the latest version of Android, Google also unveiled the latest Nexus phone called “Galaxy Nexus“. Galaxy nexus will be the first Official handset to feature this latest release of Android 4.0. In addition to all these latest features of Android 4.0, Galaxy Nexus will be the first phone with a 4.65″ high-definition sAMOLED display. The camera on the device also looks very promising with zero shutter-lag, automatic focus, top notch low-light performance.
