Samsung today officially launched S2 Galaxy, a much awaited smartphone in Korea. The company has started shipping the phone to other 140 carriers in 120 countries in the world which will be available for sale on May 1.
The phone has gained lot of momentum during the Mobile World Congress as this is the first Android phone by Samsung which will have a 1.2GHz dual core processor with a larger 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus panel. Before the launch of this, Motorola Atrix is the other Dual core processor Android phone in the market (Watch the video comparision of Atrix with iPhone 4), Samsung Galaxy S II is 8.49-mm thick which is slimmer then most of the smartphones including iPhone in the market. The new smartphone will also bring in new TouchWiz 4.0 interface with 8MP camera capable of 1080p video. The phone will also be first other then Google’s own nexus one to have Android Gingerbread 2.3 out of the box.
There has been no news yet regarding the operator who will carry the phones in US. Although some rumors in past suggest that T-mobile will be first one to get the phone on the launch and then AT&T and Verizon may follow.
