Last two weeks was very significant for two social networking sites Facebook and Qrkut  both completed 7 years of operations. Although Orkut is less popular in the United States than competitors Facebook and MySpace its been the first choice a year back for countries like India and brazil. Facebook  had over taken Orkut’s share a year back in India thanks to Indian celebrities and NRI’S preferring to much cooler Facebook. Google did manage to put a brave face on its official orkut blog by posting “Orkut is still going strong after 7 years” as the title may be a indicator that Orkut  user database might be migrated to much rumored Google me another social venture attempt by Google ,after failing in Google wave ,Buzz and Opensocial a platform for developing social apps and websites. If you take all the products (Gmail, YouTube, search…) of Google Account, create a  mashup its already a great social application but as of now Facebook rules your status updates.
