Google Me – Your New Social Networking Site

There’s a big hush about it all but Google is staying silent. They’ve tried in the past to do it but it just hasn’t worked. Yes, we are talking about “Google Me” service which at this point seems to be a biggest threat to facebook if launched soon.

This time Google really wanted to move slowly and steadly in social space after some serious mistakes it has made with Google Buzz. Paul Adams who works on Use interface at Google has also released some slides about Social Networks, which can give a hit about which direction Google is moving in getting ready for the Social Network.

Still very little is known about what all it will be based on. Its highly likely that Google could potentially rebrand Orkut as Google Me with a totally revamped User Interface and put the cherry on the cake by adding killer features from its most popular products: Google Latitude, Mail, Google Voice, Talk, Buzz, Wave, Docs, Picasa, or Youtube & not to forget integrate its own Calendar services for making appointments with friends etc. If the ball does start rolling Facebook will have to come up with more innovative and creative ideas to compete with the Giant.

Google also has a Adsense and existing successfull advertisement system which can very well fit into this whole infrastructure and give sleepless nights to facebook investors.

[...] Google Buzz adds Suggestions of People to Follow August 18, 2010 # 8:27 am | Google | No Comment ShareWhen Google launched Buzz, there was lot of hue and cry about it automatically following your contacts from your address book, but immidiately Google fixed the issue and let the users decide whom they want to follow. But recently Google Buzz has began suggesting users new individuals to follow. The company made the announcement tonight in the official Google Buzz Team Feed. According to the team, suggestions will be made based on public connections on other networks, frequent email and/or chat contacts, and activity on Buzz as Google already has all this information about you. Facebook and twitter already has this feature since some time now and this very well shows Google’s intention of becoming your Social media portal. [...]
